Do you have any questions about your trip to Medellin and your medical treatment? Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from our clients.

  1. I do not speak Spanish. Should I be worried?

Absolutely not. Your Personal Assistant is just a phone call away if you have any difficulties. We also recommend that you download Google Translate to your phone for added convenience. However, you will find that many people speak English, especially in hotels, shops and restaurants.

  1. Can I bring my spouse or travel companion?

Absolutely. All of our hotel rooms are double occupancy and many can accommodate additional guests. Our apartments can offer even more space options from studios to one and 2 bedroom apartments.

  1. What do I need to do before I arrive?

The first and most important step is to download WhatsApp to your phone. This will be your only means of communication with your doctor and PA and it will cost you nothing. Also bring your prior test results should your doctor request this information.

  1. Do you offer furnished apartments?

Most definitely. We offer American standard apartments for all budgets & sizes; from studio to 1 & 2 bedroom apartments.  All our apartments are modern with air conditioning and full kitchen with linens, towels and toiletries supplied and many have washer/dryer units available.

  1. Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept all credit and debit cards.

  1. Can I use my credit cards in Colombia?

Yes, you can. Almost every business accepts credit cards. Medellin is a major tourist attraction in Colombia.

  1. How do I contact my driver to pick me up at the airport?

Once we have your flight information, we will give the driver your itinerary. He/she will have your name, photo and phone number and will wait for you outside the terminal. Meeting is never a problem.

  1. Will there be a long wait to set up an appointment for my surgery?

No, in most cases it will be quick, usually within a week or two.

  1. How long should I expect to stay in Medellin?

Depending on the type of surgery normally you can expect to be there for 10 days. Your doctor will discuss this with you on the video chat. The first day or two will be for pre-operative testing. The remaining days are for surgery and recovery. Your doctor will discharge you when you are medically ready to leave.

  1. What is the Personal Assistant’s job?

Your PA will be with you throughout your stay in Medellin, from the moment you arrive until you return home. He/she will assist you with all your needs and requests, quickly and efficiently.

  1. Is everything included in the price?

Yes, depending on the package you choose; SILVER, GOLD or DIAMOND. Each package will offer additional services. But all packages include your PA, your airport driver, pre-op tests, surgery, surgical insurance, anesthesia and hospital stay. The only supplemental charge will be for medication if you have the SILVER package. GOLD and SILVER packages include all medication.

12. How will I be able to get my prescription filled after surgery?

No need to worry, that will be the responsibility of your PA to fill your prescription and deliver it to your accommodation GOLD DIAMOND.

  1. Do you provide medical services in other cities?

Medellin is the most requested city in Colombia because of its temperate climate all year round, proximity to all medical services, hotels, restaurants and all your needs. But yes, we can offer medical services in other cities.

  1. Do you offer surgery insurance?

Yes, you will be fully covered during the surgery in all 3 packages

  1. Do you provide travel insurance?

No, but we can refer you to several A+ companies that can provide this insurance.

  1. How do I find good restaurants?

Your PA will be able to recommend some fine restaurants to suit all budgets. You can easily eat at some restaurants for as little as $2 for breakfast and $7 for dinner. In addition most of our hotels offer complimentary full American breakfast.

  1. Is the water safe to drink?

Medellin is one of the cities in Colombia and Latin America with the best quality of basic public services such as water and sanitation, so you can drink the water without any problem and it is excellent.

  1. Can I do some sightseeing?

Of course, you can. Medellin is one of the most important tourist attractions in Colombia and receives thousands of visitors from all over the world every year. Feel free to ask your PA for some suggestions. 

19. Can I take an Uber in Medellin?

Most definitely. Uber is included in your  DIAMOND package where you will receive a daily allowance of $15, which is cumulative. You simply  call your PA to schedule an Uber.

  1. Can you arrange a medical loan?

Yes, we can. Simply call our office for the details.

  1. Is tipping required?

Unlike the U.S. tipping is not required, but you may tip at your own discretion.

  1. Do you offer different budget categories for accommodations?

Most definitely, that will be one of the first questions we ask of you when preparing your package.

  1. Do your hotels and apartments offer WIFI?.

Yes, most definitely all have WIFI with no additional charge.

  1. Do you offer translation services?

Yes, we offer this service complimentary.

25. I’m concerned that I won’t have the best doctor for my surgery?

At Elite, we take the guesswork out of choosing a doctor. First, we introduce you to your doctor via video chat. This chat gives you the opportunity to ask the doctor all your questions and concerns and for the doctor to explain the procedure and give you their recommendations. Our doctors are all board certified and have been fully vetted for qualifications and experience. You can be assured you are getting the best doctors in their respective field of expertise.

26. What is the exchange rate of the Colombian peso (COP)?

It is approximately 4,000 COP to the U.S dollar.
